Kingway Technical Institute is dedicated to fostering a healthy, safe, and drug-free educational environment that promotes academic excellence, personal growth, and responsible citizenship. The Institute firmly believes that substance abuse adversely affects the physical and mental well-being of students, disrupts the academic atmosphere, and poses serious risks to society. In accordance with the guidelines issued by the Government of India, the University Grants Commission (UGC), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and other competent authorities, the Institute has constituted an Anti-Drug Committee to prevent the use, possession, distribution, and abuse of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, alcohol, tobacco, and other prohibited substances within the campus.

The Anti-Drug Committee is responsible for developing and implementing policies that create awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse while ensuring strict compliance with applicable laws and institutional regulations. The Committee comprises senior faculty members, administrative representatives, student coordinators, counselors, and other members nominated by the Principal. The Committee meets periodically to review preventive measures, organize awareness activities, monitor campus safety, and recommend improvements to strengthen the Institute's anti-drug initiatives.

The primary objective of the Anti-Drug Committee is to educate students about the dangers associated with drug and substance abuse. The Committee regularly conducts awareness programmes, seminars, expert lectures, workshops, counseling sessions, and interactive discussions involving healthcare professionals, psychologists, law enforcement agencies, and social workers. These programmes help students understand the physical, psychological, legal, social, and academic consequences of drug addiction while encouraging them to adopt healthy lifestyles and positive decision-making skills.

The Institute follows a preventive approach by integrating awareness campaigns into student orientation programmes and academic activities. Newly admitted students are informed about the Institute's zero-tolerance policy towards drugs and intoxicating substances during induction programmes. Posters, banners, digital displays, and educational materials highlighting the dangers of drug abuse are displayed prominently across the campus to reinforce awareness throughout the academic year.

Kingway Technical Institute strictly prohibits the possession, consumption, sale, purchase, transportation, distribution, or promotion of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, alcohol, tobacco products, vaping devices, or any other prohibited intoxicants within the campus, hostels, transportation facilities, sports complexes, and during all Institute-sponsored events. Any violation of this policy is treated as a serious act of misconduct and may invite disciplinary action in accordance with institutional regulations and the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), and other applicable laws.

The Anti-Drug Committee also encourages students to seek assistance if they or someone they know is facing issues related to substance abuse. Students may approach faculty mentors, class advisors, counselors, or Committee members without hesitation. The Institute ensures that such cases are handled with empathy, confidentiality, and sensitivity. Wherever appropriate, professional counseling and rehabilitation support may be recommended in consultation with parents or guardians, while maintaining the student's dignity and privacy.

Every member of the Institute community shares the responsibility of maintaining a drug-free campus. Faculty members are encouraged to identify behavioral changes or signs of substance abuse among students and guide them towards appropriate counseling and support services. Student volunteers and class representatives also play an important role in spreading awareness, promoting healthy lifestyles, and reporting any suspicious activities that may endanger campus safety.

Students, faculty members, staff, parents, and visitors are encouraged to report any incident involving the possession, sale, use, or distribution of prohibited substances within the campus. Complaints may be submitted to the Anti-Drug Committee in person, through the Institute's official email, or via the online grievance portal. All complaints are treated with strict confidentiality, and prompt inquiries are conducted in accordance with the principles of fairness, transparency, and natural justice.

The Institute adopts a balanced approach that combines preventive education, counseling, early intervention, and strict disciplinary measures. Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, disciplinary action may include written warnings, suspension from classes, hostel expulsion, cancellation of scholarships, rustication, expulsion from the Institute, reporting to parents or guardians, and referral to law enforcement authorities wherever required by law.

To strengthen its commitment to a healthy campus environment, the Anti-Drug Committee collaborates with government departments, healthcare institutions, non-governmental organizations, and law enforcement agencies to organize periodic awareness campaigns, health check-up camps, anti-drug pledge programmes, and community outreach initiatives. The Institute also observes important awareness events such as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (26 June) by conducting educational activities that reinforce the importance of a drug-free society.

Kingway Technical Institute firmly believes that education extends beyond academic learning and includes the development of responsible, healthy, and socially conscious individuals. Through continuous awareness, counseling, community participation, and effective policy implementation, the Anti-Drug Committee strives to cultivate an environment where students can pursue their education in a safe, supportive, and substance-free atmosphere.
